Just as you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot fully understand the workings of God.
Loving One Another
7Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. 8But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial
34So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. 35Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”
12This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.
17This is my command: Love each other.
Jesus’ love for us is our playbook for how we are to love others.
1. Jesus loves sinners.
“…Do you understand what I was doing? You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.”
2. Jesus serves us.
“…Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
10God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
...fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you…”
19We love each other[1] because he loved us first.
