Jesus Comforts His Disciples
1“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[1]; believe also in me. 2My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Translation notes (1)
- 14:1 Or Believe in God
…I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and will be their God.”
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death, or mourning, or crying, or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
After this, I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.
For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done.
No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.
I am the way and the truth and the life and no one comes to the father except through me.
