Baptism
Show the change Jesus has made.
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. It is a simple, powerful way to show that you have decided to follow Jesus.

Baptism is your next step when you have decided to follow Jesus and want to show that decision at your campus.
What baptism means.
In baptism, a person is lowered into water and raised again. That picture points to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. It also says something personal: the old way of life is over, and a new life with Jesus has begun.
Baptism does not save you. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus. Baptism is an act of obedience and a public way to say, I belong to Jesus.
Why we baptize by immersion.
Sagebrush baptizes by immersion because that is the pattern we see in the New Testament.

Jesus was baptized.
Jesus stepped into baptism Himself. His baptism pointed ahead to the cross and showed His identification with us.
Matthew 3:13-15

New believers were baptized.
In the book of Acts, people heard the message about Jesus, believed it for themselves, and were baptized.
Acts 2:41

Going under and coming up matters.
The word baptize carries the idea of dipping under. Going under the water points to the death of Jesus. Coming up points to His resurrection and the new life He gives.
Romans 6:4-5
Questions
Questions people ask.
No. Baptism does not save you. The Bible says we are saved by grace through faith. Baptism is a step of obedience after you have trusted Jesus.
If you have decided to follow Jesus, there is no reason to wait for a perfect time or until you feel worthy. Baptism is a step you can take now.
If you were baptized as a baby, that was your parents dedicating you to the Lord, and it was not wrong. Getting baptized now is your own decision to follow Jesus. It fulfills the kind of prayer your parents were making for you.
Talk with the team at your campus, or start by reaching out through Connect. There is not an online baptism signup form yet, so a person will help you take the next step.
